One thing that we have not yet written about is the surroundings of The Red Lion Barnes. One of it's greatest features is that it is set in beautiful, leafy, SW13. Having spent fifteen years in London it was not until we were "posted" here that we discovered it at all, having now lived here for the past seven years we fully appreciate what a lovely place it is.
Here is something you must try. Have a walk along the banks of the river Thames.
Take yourself down to Putney embankment (where the university boat race starts), park the car up (check the tides !) and take a walk, don't forget the dog & bring the kids too.(if applicable/delete as appropriate)

Walk over the footbridge at the far end of the embankment from Leaders Garden, there is a little kids playground here, & keep going for about fifteen minutes, after having passed Fulham Football Club's Craven Cottage on the opposite Middlesex Bank, & Wandsworth Council's Barn Elms boathouse on our Surrey bank , you will see our signpost, follow it up Queen Elizabeth Walk, past The London Wetland Centre, which is also well worth a visit (great kid's adventure playground) & hey presto you will arrive in Barnes, but more importantly you will arrive at The Red Lion. Now all you have to do is eat, drink & relax, then work out who is going to fetch the car !
Parking's OK but watch the water ! |
